Terms of use

In short

easyimprov is a practice tool for guitarists. Your tracks stay yours and stay private — only upload audio you have the right to use. The analysis is made by a machine and can be wrong, so trust your ears. Play nice, and we'll do our best to keep the music playing.

These terms are an agreement between you and easyimprov (“we”, “us”) about using our website and app (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

1. The service

easyimprov listens to the audio tracks you upload and shows you their key, tempo, chords and related musical information, along with suggestions for playing over them on the guitar. It also offers standalone practice tools. The service is young and keeps changing: we may add, change or remove features over time.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
  • Give us accurate information and keep your password to yourself.
  • Your account is personal — don't share it or sell access to it.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.

3. Your tracks

You keep all rights to what you upload. To run the service, you give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, copy, process and play back your tracks only to provide the service to you. We don't publish, share or sell them.

Only upload audio you have the right to use — your own recordings, or music you may use for personal study under the law that applies to you. You are responsible for the content you upload. If we receive a valid complaint that a file infringes someone's rights, we may remove it.

4. Fair use

When using easyimprov, please don't:

  • upload anything illegal, or that you have no right to use;
  • try to get around plan limits, or access other people's accounts or data;
  • probe, overload or attack the service, or copy it by scraping or reverse engineering;
  • resell or redistribute the service or its results as your own product.

5. Plans, payment and limits

  • Free includes 1 full track analysis per account, plus the practice tools (tuner, metronome, chord dictionary and scale explorer).
  • Pro is a subscription at $7.99 a month or $58.80 a year (in US dollars, plus any sales tax or VAT; some countries see a local price) and includes 25 track analyses per calendar month. Unused analyses don't carry over.
  • Tracks can be up to 15 minutes long and 40 MB. An analysis that fails doesn't count.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: it processes your payment, issues your invoice and handles billing questions and returns, under its own buyer terms.

Pro renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Plan and billing in your account; Pro then stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds follow our refund policy. If we change a price, we'll tell you before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then. We may adjust free-plan limits, and will tell you in advance if a change affects you.

6. About the analysis

Chords, keys and tempo are produced automatically and can be wrong — especially on dense or unusual harmony. (Yes, Giant Steps included.) easyimprov is an educational tool: use it as a guide, not as an authority, and let your ears have the final word.

7. Our side

The software, design, brand and content of easyimprov (other than your tracks) belong to us and are protected by law. You may use them only as part of the service.

8. Ending things

You can stop using easyimprov at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk; when reasonable, we'll warn you first and explain why.

9. Disclaimers and liability

We work hard to keep easyimprov running and accurate, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without guarantees that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using easyimprov after that, the new terms apply.
